Together in Learning
Sector Capacity Building Initiative
Rio Tinto, Here for Gladstone partnered with community to improve community wellbeing outcomes through a training initiative for the human service sector.
The three-year (2024-2026) community-designed initiative through Gladstone Region engaging in action Together (GRT) aims to deliver sector-identified priority training needs as a mitigation for skills shortages impacting our human service sector and to grow equitable service access for community.
This is a wonderful opportunity to work collectively, to support workforce and sector development, to improve early supports and opportunities for
Gladstone children and families.
The Sector Capacity Building Initiative is proudly partnered by:

Gladstone Region Human Services
Leadership Program
Leadership is the practice of guiding and supporting people toward a shared goal. In the human services, strong leadership is crucial for improving outcomes for children, families, communities and organisations.
Local human service leaders are invited to be part of a place-based leadership experience designed to support leaders in their journey, and strengthen how our region leads, together.
Engage in:
-
The place-based leadership program (open to all leaders)
-
Train-the-trainer program to build leadership facilitation capability (available for up to four leaders).
Why this matters
The Gladstone Region has a strong foundation of skilled and committed human service practitioners who are progressively stepping into leadership. Leaders in human services are increasingly required to:
-
lead and support teams
-
navigate complexity and uncertainty
-
work across organisational boundaries
-
align day-to-day practice with broader system outcomes.
While experience plays a critical role in developing leadership, intentionally creating space to nurture this skillset alongside other leaders can meaningfully strengthen and accelerate leadership practice.
Expressions of interest close on Friday 24 July 2026.
Neurodiversity Awareness
and Inclusive Practice Training
Neurodiversity awareness and inclusive practice centres on how people experience safety, connection and
support, and how environments can be shaped to respond in ways that work for everyone.
In day-to-day practice across services, community and classroom settings, small, intentional shifts create the
conditions for participation, understanding and connection. Creating neuroaffirming environments supports
opportunity, equity and quality of life for everyone.
The workshop moves from shared understanding into applied practice. Participants will leave with evidence-based
and practical approaches they can apply immediately in their work.
Learning Outcomes - participants will develop:
-
A clearer understanding of neurodiversity and neuroaffirming practice.
-
Practical ways to build inclusive, relationship-focused environments.
-
Tools to support emotional awareness, connection and relational safety.
-
Approaches that centre respect, understanding and belonging.
